The Future of Web Design in India

Web Design in each of its evolutionary phases has pushed boundaries to adapt to changes. The changes have been dictated by people, technology and business. The Future therefore it appears is not going in a single direction, but in multiple directions. Let us take a look at some of those routes which Web design in India seems keen on following.

Browser-less Minimalist Designs

With the advent of multiple devices for web viewing occupying a major space in our lives, the friendly user interface is dying a slow death. Device fragmentation triggered by the advent of mobile devices like smart phones and tablets that have led to a fragmentation of screens, platforms and devices will have a major impact on how the web will be designed for content consumption. There has been a furore in web development strategies with the advent of newer modes of web viewing like Google Glass, mobile apps, smart watches and the rest. The static web pages or browser based interfaces are no longer a requirement.

Moreover, most of these devices do not have a keyboard, mouse or even a touch screen display for data input. They function on the basis of a small touch pad and voice recognition. In other words, traditional input and display formats are being rendered redundant. Web Design therefore is looking towards a browser less API based future. API which helps two computers or applications to communicate with each other will ensure content is consumed from different devices. The content, however, will therefore be represented as data devoid of styles instead of the erstwhile Web pages.

As a result the bare styled pages would help to provide information, as they are instructed to do without any aesthetic appeal.

While on one hand the minimalist designs may cater to the information hungry generation, on the other hand it does harbor a drawback in that it deprives users of associating with the company brand and also diffuse the content hierarchy.

Responsive Web Designs

With the explosive growth of mobile usage, responsive web design is definitely where the future is moving. Despite this immense growth there are designers who insist on concentrating on the designing for Desktops and PC leading to the coinage of the Mobile First concept. This essentially interprets as focusing on precision and necessity which would in turn lead to an enhanced desktop experience and accelerated convergence.

Mobile based designs are essentially about prioritizing. Redundant elements, including content, need to be eliminated to maximize on the viewing experience.

With Responsive Web design, the web will no longer be about fixed widths. It will be embracing concepts such as fluid widths, adjustable layouts and scalable images. These will ensure that a seamless browsing experience is provided to viewers across platforms and on all viewing ports.

Responsive Web Design also helps companies leverage economic benefits through its implementation. It requires you to maintain a single code base, which is definitely cheaper. Moreover, you are also not required to concern yourself with version control.

It also closes the gap with users as it is concerned with developing an enhanced experience for users beyond platforms and browsers. The Future of web therefore is not only to design devices, but to design experiences.

To conclude

The Web through its evolution has inspired us to explore the unknown. The future of Web Design shows us the path to move on and not stop at where we are.
