Web has come a long way. Responsive designing has set a new standard in web designing. Previously, Indian web designers limited their designs on the basis of general assumptions about input type and screen size. But with increase in the number of devices, screen sizes, alternate ideas to interact, web designer have updated the unreliable defaults for a more effective designing.
A Deep Insight
People say web has changed. But can you really make out where has it changed? What are the changes happened to Indian web design industry? Here we analyze the major changes to web design in India.
Table of Contents
The screen size has evolved a lot. The launch of tablets has multiplied the screen size options and created better pixel options for designers. The shrunk size of desktop doesn’t leads to a positive experience every time on a small screen size. Thus, web designers have started using responsive website designs which work on all screen sizes. And the website doesn’t fits in, then it means you have the access to the important info and what not accessible is surely not important. So, now content is being designed in a manner so all can see. Selecting layouts, font, colours, spacing of the websites should be done keeping in mind the different screen sizes
Website was earlier designed with navigation and logo at the top, sub navigations on the left side, widgets on the right and footer in the end. With the introduction of new technologies like parallax, HTML5 videos, etc the scenario has changed a lot. The content always remains as the core part of any website and the content presentation has become more interactive. As the internet users have become more matured and tech-savvy, ensuring that the content is good, readable, useful and interesting to delight the visitors has become more important. Today sites are constructed after considering how it will work for interaction, how the content is shaped and how the design is approached.
The major change that happened in the web design world was the demise of Adobe Flash plugin. With the introduction of jQuery, HTML5 and CSS3, where rich media experiences can be created using light-weight scripts, web designers have completely ditched Flash. The lack of support in Apple mobile devices and other smart phones also have added to this.
Social media also has secured an inevitable space in web designing nowadays. Incorporation of the social media links, share buttons, profile widgets etc have become a mandatory rule on any website. The growth and development of Social Media sites, in a way, has complimented the website design arena too, especially with the features like login to a site using user’s social media profile details, integration of social media comments boxes in websites etc.
Once you commence with the content, then designing of the content and its optimization for different devices and screen size. If you have a good sense of designing, then avoid ugly details and focus on its usability. So, now sites aren’t designed in blocks but rather in a progressive manner.
Previously, designers had a tough time with progressive enhancement in the designing procedure been due to shortage of web designing tools. But now, more tools are coming up with regards to new designing procedure.
Web has become limitless, flexible and weird. It serves as a unique medium for new designing processes and innovative forms.
