Banner blindness
What is Banner blindness?
Banner blindness, also called ad blindness, is an instance where users rarely look at and attend to the advertisements they see on the web pages, only if that catches the user’s goals. If the website has too many ads, it can definitely be expected that users will ignore them. These ads are to be ignored for the following reasons:-
- Using ad locations like the top or right side of the page.
- Ads with visual treatment or animation
- Content placed near ads.
As people have gradually learnt where to find the content they need, banner blindness has become more common among users. This situation may be done by the users consciously or unconsciously, depending on how it affects the user experience.
