Semantic Markup

Semantic markup refers to the use of HTML markup to reinforce the meaning of the content as opposed to its appearance. It’s used to convey the structure and meaning of web documents to browses and developers. The use of semantics also enhances the accessibility of websites. Tools like screen readers can interpret and present content to users with disabilities. Semantic markups such as
,
, and
can convey what the content is about. In contrast, non-semantic markups like
and can’t convey the content inside elements. Semantic markup is the fundamental aspect of web design and development. It fosters communication between the developer, browser, and search engine while enhancing accessibility. They can adapt well to new technologies and devices. By ensuring HTML markups are semantic, developers enable growth of the interconnected web.
