Contextual Advertising

What is Contextual Advertising?

Contextual advertising involves placing ads based on content on a particular webpage. It is an alternative to behavioural advertising, which emphasises the user’s browser history or personal data. If a user visits a website to check cooking recipes, there may be ads that can market cooking products like utensils, plates, glasses, and even cooking classes. Thus, ads don’t become something that can make you bored.

The whole context of how this advertising works is that it should be about a subject that an audience can relate to. Just as we have given an example, the advertisers must be familiar with keywords, topics, and the main website where the ads can be displayed. Here, it is cooking, and for some other time, it could be fashion, health, and similar topics. Furthermore, subtopics can also be decided.

The ad network will match your ad with relevant content to generate and broaden its reach. Factors like link and page structures, text, language, etc., are considered, and ads will later reach the targeted audience at the matching page.
