Extensible Markup Language
XML is used to store and structuralise data and also to encode documents. It helps in creating spreadsheets and databases. XML cannot perform tasks like HTML. It cannot be used to display data like HTML, rather it is used to describe the data. XML acts as a carrier which transfers data to and from the database. XML offers a framework for defining markup languages. Users can define their own tags in XML, making it customisable. XML is case-sensitive, unlike HTML. It can easily move data between different systems, making it flexible and hence is used in various software. It plays a vital role in structurally storing data and also in the exchange of data.
