Bandwidth
Bandwidth is the measurement of data transferred between the website and user. It depends on the size and resources of the website. Bandwidth is expressed in units of gigabytes(GB) or terabits(TB) per month. A higher bandwidth allows better data transfer and scalable traffic to the website. Maintaining bandwidth by adjusting traffic is only practical in some of the cases. Compressing images, reducing file size, and enabling compression for HTTP, javascript, etc, are some measures for reducing bandwidth. Downloading content from websites also results in higher bandwidth from the server. Exceeding bandwidth limit results in website suspension or automatic plan upgrades from the host. Monitoring and managing bandwidth is inevitable for the optimal performance of a website.
Tools such as bandwidth management and optimisation are employed to allocate bandwidth efficiently, prioritise traffic, and ensure high quality service.
