Sitemap
what is Sitemap?
Sitemap shows the structure of a website, which makes it easier for users to find the content they want and for search engines to index it. It is also helpful in identifying broken links so they can be fixed or removed. Generally, there are two types of sitemaps: HTML sitemaps and XML sitemaps.
HTML sitemaps help organize a website and let users and visitors navigate it. They were believed to be useful when header-based technology wasn’t in the limelight. They are written in HTML and display a simple set of links that are hierarchically organised.
On the other hand, XML sitemaps help search engines like Google explore the content on the website. They help webmasters add information regarding each URL, such as when it was updated, how many changes were made, and how important it is in relation to other URLs on the site. XML sitemaps are further classified into Image sitemaps, News sitemaps, Normal XML sitemaps, and Video sitemaps.
