What is a Broken link?
Broken links are hyperlinks that don’t work because they are deleted from the linked page. These links can result in 404 error( Not found) and 410(Gone) status codes. These links are common on most websites, but too many broken links can harm user experience and shift authority and value to other relevant and active sites. In the process, such websites may lose their rankings.
These broken links can be the outgoing links shared from your website and the backlinks that are shared from other websites for your page. These links tend to create situations where
- Users get frustrated when they don’t reach the page your website intends to.
- Accessing information becomes difficult because of the disruptions in the page loading.
- Degrade the page’s authority and ranking.
