Dark Search
What is Dark Search?
Dark search is the limited data provided in Google Analytics during the user’s search queries. It shows “not provided” instead of the keywords, as Google intends to protect the users’ privacy. It was implemented in 2012 by Google, and since then, many of them have coined these unknown queries as dark search.
In SEO, dark search has made keyword research very difficult, which is the core of optimising the website or pages. In other words, you may not see the phrases users use to reach the websites where they can get their queries. Getting the results of long-tail keywords can also be very difficult.
