Dwell Time
What is Dwell Time?
Dwell time is the time users spend on a website they visit from the SERPs before they return to the same page. For example, if a person has browsed about the “top 10 pet food brands in India” and visits the first site he sees and goes through that for about 5 minutes, these minutes become the dwell time. Thus, the dwell time can be very useful in understanding user engagement and the effectiveness of published content.
Dwell time, whether it is the shortest or longest, depends on how the content satisfies the user’s search intent and the level of information the user wants to know. Even if Google doesn’t admit that dwell time is a ranking factor, most of the content is published based on this intent. Also, it’s worth noting that we should not use clickbait that stirs curiosity if we cannot express the content in the best way.
