Below the fold
Below the fold is the bottom part of the page, which is only accessible after scrolling down the website. The term is derived from newspaper design. Newspapers are folded in half, and the content that had less importance was usually placed below the fold as people saw only the part above the fold when these papers were displayed on the stand. Hence, important headlines and photos always went above the fold. When things went digital, these terms remained the same for the digital web pages. Unlike newspapers, it’s difficult to determine the fold in websites, especially with the different screen sizes available today. However, the fold is usually considered 1000 pixels wide and 600 pixels tall.
