Hyperlink

Hyperlink refers to the interlinking of web pages to access each other in a click. This is the basis of the World Wide Web, by allowing the creation of interconnected web documents. Hyperlinks in a webpage would differ by colour or underline from the rest of the page’s content.  When hovered over a link by curser, it changes in colour or style, indicating the clickable nature. Choice of the text and placing link on a page is crucial in web designing. The text should make clear where the link is heading. A hyperlink  is divided into two parts: anchor text and URL. Anchor text is the clickable and visible part of the link, while the URL is the destination point. Hyperlinks are not limited to web pages. Digital documents, operating systems, etc, are examples of other instances of hyperlink usage. Hyperlinks can be converted to QR codes to place on products and services. The link on the QR code can be accessed by scanning it on smartphones.
