Web Page
You can access a web page by entering its URL address into the address bar of the browser. A web page displays information to viewers in the form of text, videos, images, animation, audio, and so on, to help users understand specific topics. They are also used to sell products and services. On a website, there are multiple web pages, with each page displaying information about different topics or products.
The components of a web page can be classified as Content and Structure, within which there are other elements.
Content Components
- Hypertext – digital text that incorporates information in different media formats like text, images, colours, videos, animation, graphics, and audio.
- Hyperlinks – these are links from one hypertext file to another, and can be in the form of text or graphics, which open the document linked to it when users click on them.
Structural Components
- Page Title – a one-line text displayed on the web browser’s title bar
- Header – a 1-2 line text, image or graphic that defines the goal of the web page. It is displayed below the browser’s address bar.
- Web Page Body – the part that comes after the header, which contains the actual web page content.
- Navigation links – hyperlinks seen on the web page that help users to go to other web pages and documents linked to it.
- Footer – The lowermost part of a web page. This usually contains contact information for the organization, copyright, FAQs, resources, and more.
