What is Operating systems?
Operating systems are a significant part of the computer. They manage the computer’s hardware and software, as well as its processes and memory. As several computer programs work together at the same time, the operating systems need to access the computer’s CPU and memory storage, which is coordinated by the operating systems to ensure the program has what it needs. There are some of the operating systems that are prominent in this age which can be classified into the following:-
- Microsoft Windows are the most common operating system used for both personal computers and mobile phones to some extent. It is known for user-friendliness and the variety of games manufactured. The newest version is Windows 11.
- UNIX is another operating system written in C language designed for multitasking and multiuser operations. It is said to have an efficient memory system and a high-level authentication system.
- Linux is the most free and open-source OS, is highly compatible, and has the flexibility to run on all modern PCs and networks. Some Linux OSs are Ubuntu, Fedora, Red Hat, Kali etc.
- BOSS is the operating system specifically for the Indians. It has integrated multiple languages. It follows Linux OS and doesn’t support Windows programs.
