Meta Tags

Meta tags are a crucial component of SEO, particularly used to display a website’s details and content.  They are impactful in understanding a site’s performance in the Search Engine Results Page( SERPs), including its clicks, traffic and engagement, thereby influencing the site’s rankings. Meta tags include title tags, description tags, robots tags, charset tags, canonical tags, viewport tags, hreflang tags, and open graph tags.  

    • Title tags are necessary as they define the headline of the article, which is expected to engaging and unique.
    • Meta Description tags provide a short content description and aim to boost page clicks. 
  • Robot tags are instructions for the search engine about how to crawl and index a webpage’s content, whether to be nofollow, noindex, no-cache, nosnippet, etc. 
  • Charset meta tags ensure the content is displayed correctly and specify the encoding of webpage characters.  
  • Canonical tags are used to specify the preferred version of the webpage to prevent duplicate content issues.
  • Viewport tags are built for responsive web design and control how a webpage is displayed on different devices.
  • Hreflang tags enable building content by considering locations and international languages. 

Open graph tags control the URLs when they are shared on social media.
