UI (user interface)

User interface is how the user interacts with the computer system. Tools that help with interaction include display screens, keyboards, and mouse and visual elements like buttons, icons, type fonts, animations, sounds, etc. A good user interface enables users to navigate through the interface and use it for their intended purpose. User interfaces come in different forms, which can be understood from the following:-

  • Graphical user interface(GUI) involves icons, images, and all other visual indicators and is commonly used in computers, mobile devices, etc.
  • Command-line interfaces(CUI) enable users to send text commands to the computer.
  • Voice-user interface allows users to interact through voice commands, and it is popular in devices like smart speakers and virtual assistants.
  • Touch user interface is common for mobile devices and tablets where touch gestures are important.
  • Gesture-based interfaces are based on the physical gestures and motions of the user, using sensors and cameras.
